Position: Senior Accountant

Location: Remote (U.S.-based; Central or Mountain time zones only)

Schedule: Full-time

Compensation: $100,000 – $125,000

Job Summary: This is a hands-on cost accounting role for someone who wants to own the numbers behind how products actually get made. Our client, a growing manufacturing company, is in the middle of a significant finance team rebuild, recent turnover has left gaps in core accounting functions, and leadership is moving quickly to bring in strong talent who can bring structure and accuracy to costing and reconciliations. NOW CFO consultants will be on the ground guiding the process and supporting the team as things get sorted out, but this is still a role for someone who's comfortable stepping into some ambiguity and bringing order to it. If you're detail-oriented, energized by solving costing puzzles, and comfortable owning a problem until it's resolved, this role is built for you.

Responsibilities

Cost Accounting

• Own full-cycle cost accounting and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain and manage Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy for manufactured products
• Apply FIFO and weighted-average inventory costing methods
• Calculate the cost of production shrink and waste, and incorporate it into unit costing
• Impute labor and direct costs into per-unit product costs for KPI and margin reporting
• Track and reconcile cost differences between forward-purchased (futures) and spot-market raw material purchases

General Accounting & Audit Support

• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a recurring basis
• Maintain audit-ready costing documentation and support external audit requests

Technology & Process

• Support the company's transition to a new ERP system
• Identify opportunities to streamline and standardize costing processes

Required Qualifications

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment
• Acumatica experience MUST-HAVE
• Hands-on Bill of Materials (BOM) experience
• Experience with FIFO and weighted-average inventory costing methods
• Strong inventory management background
• Prior experience supporting an external audit
• Ownership mentality, self-directed, accountable, and comfortable in a fast-moving, still-being-built environment
• Central or Mountain time zone availability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with commodities, futures/hedging, or raw material purchasing accounting
• Manufacturing or food/agriculture industry background
• Comfort learning industry-specific accounting nuances
